FAQ

What kind of shape do you need to be in to participate in group sessions?
Our group programs are designed to be self-scaleable so anyone from beginner to advanced can participate side by side.  The exercises are done for timed intervals so you do as much as you are capable of throughout the session.  Each group session is led by one of our coaches, ensuring that you are doing the exercises properly and providing alternate exercises if something exceeds your ability level.

What if I already belong to a gym?
With a basic once a week membership package and pay as you go options, you don't have to decide between our programs and your traditional gym; you can have both.  Our unique equipment and programs offer a great way to cross train for people who spend the rest of their training time on traditional strength equipment.
Fitness Philosophy

Rugged Fitness is more than a gym.  It is a lifestyle of strength, motivation and an enjoyment of physical activity that culminates in achieving optimal health.  It has been our experience that people who are taught the skills to lead a healthy lifestyle and enjoy their workouts are much more successful achieving their goals.  Based on that observation, we have designed our facility and programs to make exercise fun and challenging for individuals of all ability levels while also providing the education and motivation for members to change their lives.
Training Style

Our training style centers around our belief that as human beings, we are all built to move. Optimal physical performance is not just for athletes.  Everyone can benefit from increased performance, even if it's just improvements in ability to function in your daily life. For this reason, our programs utilize a variety of unique training equipment  to teach and reinforce proper movement patterns rather than simply training one muscle group at a time.   This approach challenges your body to coordinate multiple muscle systems in each exercise increasing your overall energy expenditure and combining cardiovascular and strength building into one exciting workout.

Mission Statement

Rugged Fitness is a progressive strength and conditioning facility committed making our members feel empowered to change their lives by providing the knowledge, support and environment needed to meet and exceed their fitness goals.  We continually strive to guide, motivate and inspire our members to overcome their perceived obstacles or limitations in order to become the strongest, fittest, healthiest version of themselves that they can.
Our Facility

One of the first things people will notice about our facility is that there are no exercise machines.  The majority of traditional exercise machines over train primary muscles while weakening stabilizer muscles as well as promoting poor movement patterns by working to isolate and strengthen one muscle group at a time.  If you think about it, when do you ever use one muscle at a time in any other activity in your life?  The answer is that you don’t, and if you only train muscles that way, you are ultimately working against your body’s natural systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be in good shape already to participate in group sessions?
Members in our group sessions start out at all levels of fitness from beginners to athletes.  Our  Foundations classes are designed to build up strength and endurance for individuals that have not worked out regularly in a while.  All of our group programs are designed to be scalable so anyone from beginner to advanced can participate side by side in a welcoming, non-competitive atmosphere in which everyone can improve and motivate each other.  The exercises are done for timed intervals so you do as much as you are capable of throughout the session.  Each group session is led by one of our coaches, ensuring that you are doing the exercises properly and providing alternate exercises if something exceeds your ability level.

How how does our program compare to Cross Fit?
While we have a great respect for the achievements of Cross Fit athletes, and there may be some similarities in types of equipment we utilize, we are not affiliated with Cross Fit and do not follow their training programs.  In our group sessions, members are encouraged to compete with themselves rather than others.   We offer a wider variety of training choices and promote a lifestyle of health and wellness meant for longevity rather than simply pushing to reach arbitrary benchmarks at an increased risk of injury.  All of our classes are designed and implemented by our team of highly knowledgeable trainers and coaches to allow individuals of all ability levels to maximize their potential in a safe, supervised environment.

What does membership cost and can I come in to workout on my own?
Unlike traditional gyms we don't charge a monthly membership fee and we don't offer open gym times for people to use the equipment on their own.  The cost per session for private or group training depends on the number of sessions you purchase and how often you plan on coming in.
